If you need a quick win on a busy weeknight, this is the one. I make it when I don’t want to think too hard but still want something everyone will eat.
Simple Ingredients, Big Flavor
You probably have most of this stuff already. Grab some large canned biscuits, a jar of pizza sauce, and whatever toppings you love. I use ground venison because we always have some on hand, but you can easily swap in ground beef.
Here’s what you’ll need for the bubble-up pizza casserole with ground venison:
- 1 lb ground venison, cooked and crumbled
- 1 can (large) refrigerated biscuits, cut into smaller pieces (think Grands biscuits)
- 14 oz jar pizza sauce (you’ll use ¼ cup first, then the rest later)
- Favorite toppings like pepperoni slices, black olives, cooked bacon, or banana peppers
- 2 cups pizza blend cheese (or 1 cup mozzarella + 1 cup cheddar)
- Optional: parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes

How to Make Bubble Up Pizza Casserole
Preheat your oven to 350°F. While that warms up, cook and break apart any meat you’re using. I go with ground venison, but you do you.
Take your 9×13 baking dish. Pour ¼ cup of pizza sauce on the bottom. Spread it around.
Next, cut your biscuit pieces into quarters. Drop them into the dish on top of the sauce. Then pour the rest of the pizza sauce over the biscuits and spread it evenly.
Now, pile on the toppings. I go heavy with the meat, then toss in some black olives, pepperoni slices, and anything else that sounds good. Sprinkle it all with shredded cheese. I use a pizza blend, but if you’re out, mix mozzarella cheese with cheddar. A little parmesan cheese on top? Yes, please.
Bake for 20–25 minutes. You want that cheese bubbling and the pizza dough fully cooked.

Why You Will Love this Bubble Pizza with Ground Venison
This is an easy casserole made with simple ingredients. It’s perfect for family dinners, especially on busy weeknights. It’s also a hit for pizza night, or those last-minute moments when you realize you forgot to defrost something.
We loved it. It is husband-approved. Leftover-approved. And bonus? It’s one of those great recipes you can switch up based on what’s in the fridge.
Add Italian seasoning or more heat with red pepper flakes if that’s your thing. It takes care of those pizza cravings and you can serve it in individual portions.

Time to Be a Doer and Make This Bubble Pizza
The best part of this recipe? You don’t have to roll out a single thing. No dough stress. No fancy steps. Just layer, bake, and enjoy. A friend of mine told me about this recipe and called it a bubble pizza or a bubble up pizza casserole. We have fun turning it into our own using the ground venison.
Your whole family will love this semi-homemade pizza. Enjoy!
