Saying Goodbye to Fear: Living Courageously (Do It Afraid)
Today, I’m kicking off a new blog + video series called Living Courageously, and we’re starting right here—with the decision to say goodbye to fear. Not because you’ll never feel it again, but because you’re choosing to believe God’s truth more than the fear’s voice.
What if courage isn’t the absence of fear…
but the choice to move forward even when your heart is racing and your hands are shaking?
Whether you’re facing something big or just navigating everyday moments with anxiety quietly riding shotgun, these truths from Scripture are here to anchor you—and I’m sharing a couple of practical ways to live them out, starting today.

1. God Is With You—You’re Never Alone
“So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
—Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
This is one of those verses that I come back to again and again. Not because it’s new, but because it’s always true. We’re not told, “Don’t feel afraid.” We’re told, “Don’t stay afraid”—because God is already with us in it.
Try This:
• Say this verse out loud when fear starts to rise—speak it until your soul hears it.
• Write it on a sticky note and place it on your bathroom mirror or car dashboard.

2. Fear Doesn’t Get the Final Word—Faith Does
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
—2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
God didn’t give us fear. So when it comes, we know it’s not from Him. What He gave us is even better: power, love, and a sound mind. That’s what we get to walk in today.
Try This:
• Write down one fear-based thought, then replace it with God’s truth.
• Take one small step forward today that fear has been trying to hold you back from—just one.

3. Courage Is Rooted in Wisdom, Not Perfection
“She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.”
—Proverbs 31:25 (NIV)
This verse isn’t just about being “put together.” It’s about being grounded in wisdom. A woman who walks with God can smile at the future—not because she knows what’s coming, but because she knows Who holds it.
Try This:
• Ask yourself, “What would the wise version of me do today?” Then do that—imperfectly.
• Want to go deeper? I made a whole video on becoming a Proverbs 31 woman, full of biblical habits and real-life strategies.

4. God’s Love Drives Out Fear
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”
—1 John 4:18 (NIV)
This is one of those verses that reminds me: I don’t have to fear outcomes, rejection, or failure when I’m rooted in God’s love. His love is steady. It’s enough. And it’s stronger than fear.
Try This:
• Meditate on this verse slowly today. Let it soak in like sunlight on your skin.
• When fear starts whispering, ask yourself, “What does God’s love say about this?”
Time to Practice Living Courageously
Saying goodbye to fear isn’t about having it all together. It’s about choosing to move forward anyway. It’s about trusting God’s voice over your fear, one small step at a time.
Even if your voice shakes… do it anyway.
Even if your hands tremble… do it anyway.
Because God goes with you.
If this encouraged you, I’d love for you to share it with a friend or drop a comment below with a verse you cling to when fear creeps in. And don’t forget to check out the full video for more practical encouragement in this Living Courageously series.
