Instructions for Venison Steak Carne Asada Bowls
Marinate the Venison
Thinly slice the thawed venison steak into thin strips. Place it in a large ziploc bag. Add the sliced onion and pear. The pear adds a unique flavor to the marinade ingredients.
In a small bowl, mix the chili powder, onion powder, minced garlic, black pepper, and sea salt. Add the seasoning mix to the bag.
Pour in the avocado oil and gently massage the bag to distribute the marinade. Zip it up and let it marinate in the fridge for at least 4 hours. You could probably get by with just a couple of hours, but more is better.
Cook the Venison: Perfect for A Carne Asada Steak Bowl
Heat a cast iron skillet or your skillet of choice over medium-high heat. Add a little oil. Once hot, add the marinated steak, onion, and pear. Cook for 5–9 minutes, just until the internal temperature reaches 140 degrees.
For best results, don’t over cook. Venison is lean and it won’t take long to get that perfect flavor.

Prepare the Rice for the Carne Asada Bowl Recipe
While the venison cooks, prepare your rice. Jasmine rice, brown rice, cilantro lime rice, cauliflower rice, or white rice all work great.
Make the Salsa
In a bowl, combine diced red pepper, lime juice, cubed avocado, corn, and black beans. Add 1 tbsp of olive oil or avocado oil if you like. This is such a flavorful carne asada dish.
Make the Chipotle Dressing
In another bowl, whisk together sour cream, adobo peppers and juice, lime juice, chopped cilantro, sea salt, and paprika.
Assemble the Carne Asada Steak Bowls
Spoon rice into the bottom of each bowl. Layer the venison steak on top. Add the salsa. Drizzle with chipotle dressing. Garnish with fresh cilantro. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and serve fresh squeezed lime wedges.
Serve with tortilla chips, shredded cheese, olives, or a dollop of sour cream. You can even turn this into a venison carne asada burrito bowl by wrapping everything up in a warm tortilla.

More Reasons to Love Venison
Venison isn’t just delicious—it’s also packed with nutrients. It’s leaner than beef, meaning it’s lower in fat but still high in protein. That makes it a great option if you’re looking for a hearty meal without the extra grease.
Venison is also rich in iron, which helps keep your energy levels up, and B vitamins that support brain function. Since we harvest our own deer, we know it’s free from hormones, antibiotics, and unnecessary additives.
It’s truly a clean, natural protein source that fuels our family while keeping our meals wholesome and satisfying. I feel truly blessed to have a freezer full! Some of my favorites are venison cheeseburger soup, cast-iron tenderloin, and venison & barley soup!
That’s it! A simple, flavorful dinner made with fresh ingredients and wild-harvested venison. It’s a great way to use your venison and I think you will love this recipe. Enjoy!
Happy Cooking,
