Perfect Caramel Apples with Kraft Caramels

Ingredients
  

  • 1 bag Kraft Caramels
  • 1-2 tsp. water (1 tsp. for microwave or 2 tsp. for stove top)
  • 5-7 tart Granny Smith apples
  • Toppings: cereal, cookies, mini-marshmallows, English toffee, nuts, cranberries, etc. (all chopped or crushed into smaller pieces)

Equipment

  • large microwave safe bowl ( or medium sized saucepan)
  • cookie sheet (cover with parchment paper for the caramel apples to set up on)

Method
 

  1. Line your cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare your toppings by cutting, chopping, or crushing.

  3. Prepare your apples by washing in hot water, drying completely, taking off the stems, and inserting a craft stick into the top.

  4. Unwrap caramels and place them in a large microwave safe bowl.

  5. Add in 1 tsp. of water and heat for 2 1/2 to 3 minutes.

  6. Remove from the microwave and stir until creamy and smooth.

  7. Hold onto the craft stick and roll the apple around in the caramel until all sides are coated. Let the excess drip off into the bowl.

  8. Roll them into the toppings or sprinkle topping onto caramel .
