Ingredients for Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup in the Crockpot

Here’s what you’ll need to make this creamy homemade chicken noodle soup:

• ¼ cup all-purpose flour
• 6 cups low sodium chicken broth or chicken stock
• 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon base (I prefer the paste)
• 2 teaspoons ground black pepper

How to Make It in the Crock-Pot

1. Chop the vegetables. Dice the carrots, celery, and onion.
2. Add butter and veggies to the crock-pot. You can cut the butter into slices or just add the whole stick. Either way works.
3. Sprinkle in the flour, chicken bouillon base, salt, and pepper.
4. Add the chicken. Place the chicken breasts on top of the vegetable mixture.
5. Pour in the liquids. Add the chicken broth and milk (or water), then gently stir. Make sure the chicken is submerged.
6. Set your cooking time. Cook on low for 4-5 hours or high for 2-3 hours.

Last Steps

7. Shred the chicken using forks or use kitchen scissors to cut it into pieces. I love the pair I have from Pampered Chef. I use them all the time.
7. Add noodles and soup. About 20-30 minutes before serving, stir in the egg noodles and cream of chicken soup.
8. Finish and serve. Let the noodles soften, give it one final stir, and enjoy!

How to Make This Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup Recipe on the Stovetop

If you don’t have time for the slow cooker, you can still make this delicious creamy chicken noodle soup in a large soup pot.
1. Melt the butter. Place a large pot over medium heat and melt the butter.
2. Saute the vegetables. Add the chopped carrots, celery, and onion. Cook for about 10 minutes until softened.
3. Add the flour. Stir it in, making sure it coats the veggies evenly. Keep stirring so it doesn’t burn.
4. Slowly pour in the broth. Add the chicken broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Bring it to a boil over medium to medium-high heat.
5. Season and add chicken. Mix in the chicken bouillon base, salt, and pepper. Then, add the chicken breasts.

Time To Simmer!

6. Simmer. Cover the large pot and let everything cook for about 20 minutes or until the chicken is fully cooked.
7. Shred the chicken. You can either remove the chicken, shred it with two forks, and return it to the pot or cut it up/shred it right inside the pot. I use my Pampered Chef scissors for this. I LOVE them!
8. Add noodles and soup. Stir in the egg noodles and cream of chicken soup. Let cook for another 10 minutes.
9. Serve and enjoy!

Why My Family Loves This Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup

This is a great recipe for busy weeknights. I can throw everything into the crock-pot before work, and when I get home, dinner is practically done. It’s also a family favorite. My boys love the tender chicken and creamy broth, and I love that it’s packed with veggies.

Another bonus? It makes great leftovers. Store any extra soup in an airtight container in the fridge, and it reheats just fine. I even freeze leftovers in small portions for quick lunches. It really is one of my favorite recipes for making a creamy soup for the whole family.

Cooking times may vary. Some slow cookers run hotter than others. If yours cooks fast, check the chicken early.
Use a rotisserie chicken. Short on time? Shred a rotisserie chicken and stir it in when you add the noodles and soup.
Add more veggies. Toss in peas, corn, green beans, or even diced potatoes for extra heartiness.
Serve with crusty bread. A warm slice of bread is perfect for dipping into the creamy broth.
