Easy Meringue (Only 3 Ingredients)
This easy meringue is fun to make and so very simple. You just need egg whites, cream of tartar, sugar, and a mixer set to high speed. I can’t wait to share this recipe with you! I love eating it right off the beater. I know, its raw egg, but….it is so good!

Easy Meringue (Only 3 Ingredients)

Equipment
Method
- Preheat your oven to 325°.
- Beat the egg whites with the cream of tartar on the highest speed until soft peaks form. This will take at least 4 minutes. Don't give up too early or you won't get the peaks.

- GRADUALLY beat in the sugar on high speed until stiff peaks form. Again, this will take 3-4 minutes. Don't give up too early.

- Spread over filling; seal to the edge of the crust. I like to drop dollops of the meringue in three to four different places and then gently spread it around. I save one big dollop for the center to get some nice big peaks. So fun!

- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the meringue is golden brown on the peaks and there aren't any wet looking parts on the white part.

Easy Meringue (Only Three Ingredients)
If you’ve ever felt intimidated by meringue, let me just tell you right now — you do not need a complicated recipe. This easy meringue uses only three ingredients, and once you make it a time or two, you’ll wonder why it ever seemed tricky. This topping works beautifully on pies like butterscotch pie. Or used a whipped topping on chocolate chip pie for a simple twist.
Light, fluffy, golden-topped perfection. And it comes together in minutes.

Ingredients for Easy Meringue (Only Three Ingredients)
You only need:
- 3 egg whites
- ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
- ¼ cup white granulated sugar
That’s it. No fancy extras. No complicated steps.

How to Make Easy Meringue
Step 1: Preheat Your Oven
Preheat your oven to 325°F. Go ahead and do this first so it’s ready when you are.
Step 2: Beat to Soft Peaks
Add your egg whites and cream of tartar to a clean mixing bowl.
Turn your mixer on high speed and beat until soft peaks form. This usually takes at least four minutes. I use a handheld mixer when I make meringue.
DON’T give up too early. If you stop before the peaks form, you won’t get that beautiful structure. Just let the mixer do its thing. Well, and your arm.
Step 3: Beat to Stiff Peaks
With the mixer still on high, GRADUALLY add the sugar. Sprinkle it in slowly instead of dumping it all at once.
Keep beating until stiff peaks form. This takes another three to four minutes. Again — don’t give up too soon. When you lift the beaters, the peaks should stand tall and hold their shape.
That’s when you know you nailed it.
Step 4: Spread Over the Pie
Spread the meringue over your pie filling. Seal it all the way to the edges of the crust so it doesn’t shrink back while baking.
I like to drop dollops of meringue in three or four different spots and then gently spread it around. I always save one big dollop for the center so I can pull up some tall peaks. It’s the fun part.
Step 5: Bake
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the peaks turn golden brown and you don’t see any wet or glossy spots on the white sections.
Let it cool before slicing so it sets beautifully.

Why Homemade Pie Is Always Worth It
Let’s be honest. Homemade pie takes time. You can’t rush it. You measure, you mix, you roll, you bake.
But, it’s so worth it.
I grew up watching my mom and my grandmas in the kitchen, flour dusted on the counter, aprons tied around their waists, pies lined up and cooling. They didn’t just make dessert. They built memories. We even had a pie day at church where we took and delivered pies to local widows.
Making pie isn’t just about the recipe. It’s family. It’s tradition. It’s bonding. It’s love baked right into the crust.
So don’t rush it. Enjoy the process. Turn on some music. Invite your kids into the kitchen. Let them lick the spoon.
Because one day, they’ll remember you standing at the counter — and they won’t just remember the pie.
They’ll remember the love.
