Ingredients

Deer Roast
  • 3-4 lb. deer roast (or beef roast)
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2-3 tsp. Lawry's seasoned salt (enough to coat all sides of the roast)
BBQ Sauce
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 tsp. mustard
  • tsp. paprika
  • tsp. hot sauce
  • 1 small onion, diced and sauted for 7-10 minutes.

Equipment

  • slow cooker or roasting pan
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons:

Method

Make the Venison Roast
  1. Season the venison roast on all sides with the seasoning salt. Now listen, you can just use whatever seasoning you like here. It's up to you.
  2. Put the roast in the slow cooker, add in 1/4 cup of water, and cook on low for 7-8 hours.
  3. Shred the roast and keep just a bit of the liquid that is in the pan. If you keep it all, it will be a runnier BBQ. If you want it thicker, get rid of all or most of the juice.
Sauce
  1. In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup ketchup, ½ cup apple cider vinegar, ¼ cup maple syrup, 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce, 2 tsp. mustard, 1½ tsp. paprika, and 1 tsp. hot sauce.
