Simple Gold Medal Flour Banana Bread Recipe

This simple Gold Medal Flour banana bread recipe is just that. The recipe was found on the back of their flour bag years ago and it is the only one we have used since then. It is simple, quick to mix up, and turns out every time.
Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 1 hour
Course: Breakfast, Dessert, Snack

Ingredients

  • cups white granulated sugar
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • cups mashed ripe bananas (about 4 medium bananas)
  • ½ cup buttermilk (or ½ cup milk with ½ tsp. of vinegar mixed in for 5 minutes)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • cups Gold Medal all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional and I never add them)

Method

  1. Heat your oven to 350° and grease the bottoms of two 8x4 inch loaf pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the sugar and softened butter until creamy. I use an electric mixer for this.
  3. Mix in the bananas, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla. Beat until creamy.
  4. Mix in the flour, baking soda, and salt until combined. If you are using nuts, add them now.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the two loaf pans.
  6. Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick or butter-knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  7. Let them cool for 10 minutes in the pan and then, let them finish cooling out of the pans on a wire rack.
