Homemade Chocolate Gravy

I know, you are wondering, what in the world is chocolate gravy? It really is gravy that is chocolate. Think chocolate fountain, chocolate pudding, and chocolate topping all in one. Oh man, do I need to say more? Pour it over buttery biscuits and you are all set. Enjoy!

Ingredients
  

  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tbs. all-purpose flour (you can substitute with cornstarch)
  • 3 tbs. cocoa powder
  • dash salt
  • 2 cups milk (2% or whole)
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Equipment

  • medium to large saucepan
  • whisk
  • measuring cups/spoons

Method
 

  1. Pour two cups of milk into a medium sized saucepan and start heating over medium heat. You are just giving it a head start to start warming up before you add in your dry ingredients. Around five-ish minutes.

  2. In a separate bowl, mix together ⅔ cup granulated sugar, a dash of salt, 3 tbs. all-purpose flour, and 3 tbs. cocoa powder.

  3. Whisk the dry ingredient mixture into the heating milk.

  4. Continue to stir and cook over medium heat for 20-30 minutes until it reaches the thickness that you want.

  5. Remove from the heat when it reaches your desired thickness.

  6. Mix in 1 tsp. vanilla extract.

  7. Add in ½ stick of butter.

  8. Stir until the butter is melted.
  9. Serve over buttery biscuits.
