Simple Gold Medal Flour Banana Bread Recipe
This gold medal flour banana bread recipe is our family’s go-to recipe for banana bread. We found this on the back of the Gold Medal flour bag and there is no sense in messing with a good thing. This is a classic banana bread that has been called the best banana bread recipe.
This is also Hayden’s go-to banana bread recipe. He started making it himself a couple of years ago, which is why I wanted to add it to my blog. I hope you all give it a try!
I’ll be honest though. I don’t actually love banana bread. I love the batter before you mix in the bananas. Sweet. Buttery. Perfect. I guess I loved banana when I was a toddler, but now, yikes! They are the only food that I struggle with. I once called my cousin a “banana brain” because that was the worst name I could think of. It was out of jealousy, but goodness. I was so mad. lol

- Pour the batter evenly into the two loaf pans.

- Let them cool for 10 minutes in the pan and then, let them finish cooling out of the pans on a wire rack.

How to Make Quick Bread Banana Style
Heat your oven to 350°F.
Grease the bottoms only of two 8×4-inch pans.
Or use one 9×5-inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, mix sugar and butter until creamy.
An electric mixer works great here.
Add the eggs.
Add the bananas.
Pour in the buttermilk.
Add the vanilla.
Mix until smooth.
Stir in the baking soda.
Add the salt.
Fold in the flour.
Add nuts if you want.
Mix just until combined.
Divide batter evenly between pans.
Bake for 1 hour.
This is how you bake 8-inch loaves just right.
A toothpick or butter knife should come out clean.
Cool for 10 minutes in the pans.
Remove from pans.
Cool completely on a wire rack. Okay, we don’t actually let it cool completely, because warm bread with butter is the best.
The result is moist banana bread every time.

Tips From My Kitchen
This bread makes a great gift. Let it cook and then wrap it in parchment and twine. People love homemade.
Also, we don’t let it cool all the way before cutting into it. The boys dig in while it is warm.

Fun Add-Ins to Try
Chocolate morsels are always a yes.
Peanut butter swirled in is a good addition as well.
Try both if you’re brave.
This is still a classic banana bread, just dressed up.
