What steps do I take to make one-inch boneless pork chops in the air fryer?

  1. Pre-heat the air fryer to 400 degrees for 5 minutes.
  2. Take pork chops out of the packaging and put in a larger dish.
  3. Pour olive oil over the pork chops and make sure that they are covered with the olive oil on both sides.
  4. Sprinkle your seasoning of choice on both sides of the pork chops. They should be covered in it.  Rub the seasoning in well on both sides.
  5. Place the pork chops in the preheated air fryer basket and make sure that they are not touching. They should be in a single layer.
  6. Cook seasoned pork chops in the air fryer for 14 minutes. Flip them over after 7 minutes. The total cooking time still needs to be 14 minutes, so make sure you cook them another 7 minutes after flipping them.
  7. Make sure the internal temperature is 160 degrees. We like to play it safe with pork. Some say 140 degrees is fine, but we go with 160 degrees. Use a meat thermometer to get an accurate reading.

Can I use bone in pork chops instead of boneless chops for this recipe?

You can use bone-in pork chops instead of boneless pork chops for this recipe. Just make sure that you check the internal temperature when they are done.

Again, go for 140 degrees minimum to 160 degrees tops. You may need to adjust the cook time if you are working with thin pork chops. Use an instant read thermometer to make sure you cook them to temperature.

Do I need to cut them up into smaller pieces or cook them whole?

You do not need to cut them up before cooking them.

Put the whole pork chop in the air fryer. Make sure that they are not touching each other. If they have a little space between them, all areas will cook evenly since the heat is distributed all around.

You will love how air frying creates tender pork chops.

What should I season them with?

You can use a liberal amount of salt and pepper, or a steak blend, or you can even create your own blend.

You can’t really go wrong here. I use whatever we have on hand. Simple seasonings work best. Don’t be afraid to try whatever seasoning you have in your cabinet.

Some great options include garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, Italian seasoning, sea salt, seasoned salt, kosher salt, and the list goes on and on. Pork is already salty, so keep that in mind when seasoning the thick pork chops.

Can I use a different oil for this air fryer pork chop recipe?

I recommend olive oil for this recipe.  It is healthier and gives it a nice flavor.  We usually have a very large bottle on hand that we buy from our local wholesale retailer, Sam’s Club. Oh, I also like avocado oil.

Do they need to sit out before I cook them?

You do not sit pork out before cooking it. You can rinse the pork chops with cool water and pat them dry with paper towels if you wish, but they are ready to cook as soon as you take them out of the fridge.

Pork is one of those food items that will start to grow bacteria on it after just a couple of hours. If bacteria starts growing on the food, it can become unsafe to eat. There is a good chance you would get sick from that.

If you forget it and leave it out for more than two hours, just throw it away.  It is good to be safe here and not have it sitting out longer than necessary for preparing.

How long do they need to rest after I have cooked them before I cut and serve them?

You can let them rest for 3-4 minutes. They are ready to cut up and eat pretty immediately. This juicy pork chop is a game changer! So good.

What side items go with pork chops?

Well, you can put a lot of delicious and simple sides with pork chops.

You could have mashed potatoes, mac-n-cheese, salad, asparagus, steamed broccoli, etc. Baked potatoes would go well with pork chops too. Just make sure that you put them in the oven a good 45 minutes before you make the pork chops so that they are done at the same time.

Steamed broccoli is one of our favorite go to sides. We buy frozen broccoli florets and steam them in the microwave for about 7 minutes.
